Colourful and sexy, and that’s not just
the Artist. Jeffrey South was born in Cape Town,
South Africa. Jeffrey has been painting as long
as he can remember. “I always enjoyed Art
at school but I have never had any formal Art
education, although, my grandmother on my fathers
side was an Artist and she always encouraged me”.
Jeffrey says “my paintings always have
bright colours as I was influenced by the rich
colours of the Zulu and the Xhosa tribe”.
His paintings are generally abstract or impressionist
like and he has been inspired by his favourite
artists including: Picasso, Kandinsky, Matisse,
Gustav Klimt and an Italian artist called Modigliani.
He will paint on anything, sometimes a wall,
but these days normally canvases. When I paint
I love listening to music. I seem to get “auditory
visions”. Sometimes I will listen to the
same track over and over again.
Jeffrey has been in London since ’95 and
had his first exhibition in Mayfair in 2003. In
his spare time he likes to paint male nudes and
hang out at the Tate Modern.
Getting down to my personal stuff “ I’m
gay and available !! I love latino type men and
I love them to have a sense of humour”.
Look forward to meeting you at my Exhibition on
Friday 3rd August!!
