After an excellent February drinks party we are looking forward to our March Drinks Party, so come and join us and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine on arrival (7pm-8pm).

We will have exclusive use of the St Stephens Club on Friday 4th March from 7-12pm and, by special arrangement, Velvet members and guests can continue the evening on by collecting one of the 50 Guest Passes for yourself and your guests for complimentary admission to Shadow Lounge, 5 Brewer Street, Soho, London W1 (11pm-4am) Europe’s No: 1 gay members club.

Club drinks are: Wine: £4.50 per glass, £15.50 per bottle, Beer: £3.50, Spirits: single £3.50 (inclusive of mixer), Soft drinks: £2.25, Bottled Water: £1.00 glass.

Renowned for the quality of its food, Head Chef Alex Wood has created a selection of dishes for members and guests including: Bruschetta with tomato, mozzarella and basil £9.00 … Foie gras parfait and orange marmalade on brioche £10.50 (starter) … Penne Pasta with either a wild mushroom or carbonnara sauce £9.00/£12.00 (starter/main) ... Annie Leibovitz: Lesbian Icon: Who? When? Where?

Anna-Lou "Annie" Leibovitz is an American portrait photographer whose style is marked by a close collaboration between the photographer and the subject.

Born in Waterbury, Connecticut, Leibovitz is Jewish. The third of six children, her mother was a modern dance instructor, while her father was a lieutenant colonel in the United States Air Force. The family moved frequently with her father's duty assignments, and she took her first pictures when he was stationed in the Philippines.

In high school, she became interested in various artistic endeavours, and began to write and play music. She attended the San Francisco Art Institute. She became interested in photography after taking pictures during her time in the Philippines as an Air Force brat where her father was assigned at the time of the Vietnam War. For several years, she continued to develop her photography skills while she worked various jobs, including a stint on a kibbutz in Israel for several months in 1969.. ...more...
