Childhood: When Jenny Shimizu was young, her ambition was to become a cowboy! She dropped out of college to take a place in a repair trade school. Afterwards, she joined the Harley-Davidson custom design shop in Los Angeles and becoming a model was the last thing on her mind. She was spotted by a casting director in a nightclub and offered a part in his video and that was the start of a new chapter in her life.
Friends and relationships: In the 1990s, she spoke a line in the coming-out episode of Ellen starring Ellen DeGeneres. For several years, Shimizu was involved with actress Ione Skye. Ione Skye left her first husband, Adam Horovitz (a member of the musical group the Beastie Boys) for Shimizu. That relationship lasted for at least three years.
In 2005, to protest against America's laws on gay marriage, Shimizu "married" Reality TV Star Rebecca Loos for the TV program Power Lesbian UK. It was broadcast in the USA as Power Lesbians on LOGO which profiled successful lesbians in Los Angeles. The two shared a relationship for a period afterwards.
In January 2007, Shimizu described an intimate relationship she had with Madonna, claiming that Madonna would fly her to destinations across the world for sexual liaisons. "I was her secret 'booty call' available any time of the day or night for secret sex sessions...she's sensational in bed." She revealed this information while it was being reported that she was going to release a tell-all book that contained intimate details of her sexual affairs with Madonna and Angelina Jolie.
Work: Shimizu is mostly known for modelling in Calvin Klein ads for "CK One."
Shimizu usually sports close-cropped hair, and has a tattoo of a woman straddling a crescent wrench on her arm. In 2005, she married Rebecca Loos for the Sky documentary Power Lesbian UK (broadcast as Power Lesbians on Logo, which profiled successful lesbians in Los Angeles) and appeared on Tyra Banks' reality show America's Next Top Model.
Shimizu had a supporting role in Jamie Babbit's 2007 film, Itty Bitty Titty Committee. She has appeared in such indie films as The New Women, Foxfire and Ding Dong among others.
She was a little-known fashion model prior to being selected to appear in a Madonna video.
Shimizu has modelled for many fashion designers, including Jean-Paul Gauthier, Calvin Klein, Anna Sui, and Gianni Versace, as well as having appeared in ads, fashion magazines, and music videos.
Greatest Achievement: In a 2005 poll by gay publication The Pink Paper, Jenny Shimizu was voted sexiest woman, beating Angelina Jolie and Australian icon Kylie Minogue, in at second and third respectively.
In 2006 she received the 10 Amazing Women in Showbiz award from Power Up.
Shimizu won the Lesbian Icon Award at the Philadelphia International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival in 2006.
